ABOUT THE PROJECT

iRead is an innovative project designed to transform reading education by enhancing students' reading skills, boosting their motivation and supporting teachers in their critical roles. Inspired by insights from PISA, iRead leverages cutting-edge methods and advanced technology to foster a love for reading and equip students with essential literacy skills. The ultimate goal is to turn classrooms into vibrant spaces of literacy and lifelong learning.

At the heart of iRead is an interactive reading game that draws students into engaging stories set in imaginative worlds. This gamified approach not only makes reading enjoyable but also strengthens students' skills in a dynamic and immersive way. To support teachers, iRead offers a professional development e-course centered on "Close Reading," a proven and effective method for teaching reading. This training empowers educators with practical strategies to improve learning outcomes in their classrooms.

In addition, iRead provides an extensive online toolbox filled with practical resources and documents to help teachers implement Close Reading effectively. School leaders also benefit from an online guide that offers clear and actionable steps for embedding efficient and impactful reading education into their schools.

Designed with students at the center, the project incorporates their feedback to ensure the reading game is both engaging and technically optimized. iRead is a collaborative effort, bringing together educational partners from across Europe, including POV, PISO Tienen, and HOWEST (Belgium), Kehtna Vocational School (Estonia), and REDIAL (Ireland). Running from February 2022 to January 2025, the project aims to create lasting educational innovation through international collaboration.
